10-year forecast shows growth in network architect jobs while sysadmin roles shrink
“The growth of computer and mathematical occupations is expected to stem from demand for upgraded computer services, continued development of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, and an increasing amount of data available for analysis,” the BLS stated. “In addition, the number and severity of cyberattacks and data breaches on U.S. businesses is expected to lead to greater demand for information security analysts.”
Twelve of the 14 computer-related positions tracked by the government agency are expected to see increases in U.S. employment between 2023 and 2033. The two categories that are expected to decline are network and computer systems administrators, which are forecast to decline by 2.6%, and computer programmers, which are facing a 9.6% decrease in jobs.
