5 Podcasts Tech and Business Leaders Should Be Listening To
By Milan Shetti, CEO Rocket Software
Podcasts can be valuable resources for learning new skills, staying on top of trends in your industry or just keeping busy while you’re at the gym or in the car. But with over 2 million active podcasts and more than 48 million podcast episodes out there, it’s difficult to just choose one and press play. For leaders in the tech industry, insights range from high level strategy to completely in the weeds and span thousands of sub-topics.
To help you narrow down the choices, here are a few of my favorite podcasts that cover the intersection of technology and business for people like myself whose interests straddle both.
1)CXOTalks
Veteran industry analyst, writer and advisor Michael Krigsman has interviewed hundreds of senior executives for this show. Guests include business and technology leaders such as Bruno Aziza, head of data and analytics for Google Cloud, and Satyan Parameswaran, President of Information Technology at UPS. They touch on topics such as digital transformation and the impacts of AI, data science and evolving business models.
The Digital: Disrupted podcast is hosted by Paul Muller, founder of Denting the Universe and startup mentor. Paul is not afraid to challenge guests to get them to dive deeper into the topics of digital transformation and explore what the buzzword really means for businesses. Listen for actionable insights and new perspectives on topics such as diversity in tech, information security, data analytics and more. Recent guests include Doug Laney, the creator of infonomics, and Andrew Winston, author of Net Positive. I even joined Paul for an episode to discuss hybrid cloud; give it a listen here!
ModernCTO feels like listening in on industry leaders’ watercooler conversations; it’s fun to listen to and insightful at the same time. Host Joel Beasley, CTO of LeaderBits.io, created the show after interviewing CTOs for his book and wanting to create a conversational atmosphere to share those experiences. Recent guests include Rashmi Kumar, the CIO of HPE, and Tony Davis, the Chief Strategic Advisor on AIOps at Broadcom.
Every business leader wishes they could look into the future and be better prepared for what’s to come. This podcast by The Wall Street Journal aims to do just that by discussing nascent trends they predict will shape our world. Science and technology buffs will love learning about topics like superconductivity, metamaterials, and clean energy. Host Janet Babin brings her experience as a reporter to each conversation and her expertise covering climate change, business, and politics.
5)Pivot
Tech journalist Kara Swisher and NYU professor Scott Galloway have a great rapport as co-hosts of Pivot. They explore current stories in tech, business, and politics such as Twitter’s CEO stepping down, Facebook’s name change and more. They also have fascinating guests like Founder and CEO of Boom Supersonic, Blake Scholl. This show will make you laugh, offer sharp predictions, and keep you up to date on everything happening in the fast-paced world of technology.
On these podcasts, listeners get to hear from the thought leaders who are pushing our industries forward and learn from experts in their fields. Technology and business are more intertwined than ever before, and we have so many amazing resources to explore the ways that plays out every day. I hope you get as much from these conversations as I do and share them with your networks as well!
