Cisco IOS XE Automation at Cisco Live APJC 2024
Ready to dive deeper into Cisco IOS XE programmability, automation, and sustainability? Then join us at Cisco Live APJC in Melbourne from November 11–14, 2024!
These sessions cover topics ranging from getting started with Cisco IOS XE programmability and automation, to sustainability, to atomic configuration replace (ACR), to tooling with YANG Suite and Terraform, to Secure Zero Touch Provisioning. See the details of the upcoming Cisco Live sessions below:
Breakout Sessions
Atomic Config Replace with Cisco Catalyst 9000 [DEVNET-2385]
The Atomic Config Replace (ACR) feature is designed to streamline your configuration processes, ensuring that changes are applied seamlessly and without disruption. The primary objective of ACR is to guarantee that the entire intended configuration is applied, without any partial configurations being applied or left behind. For example, easily replace ACL, policies, or interface configurations, or supply a complete golden configuration to override all existing config. If any part of the configuration fails, the entire operation is rolled back, ensuring your network remains stable and consistent. Working atomically allows us to manage configuration at scale more efficiently and effectively. This session will cover how to get started with ACR as well as demonstrate ACR examples.
Secure Zero Touch Provisioning (SZTP) with Cisco Catalyst Switches [DEVNET-1249]
Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) allows us to automate the deployment Cisco IOS XE and Catalyst platforms on enterprise and campus networks using the embedded CentOS “GuestShell” Linux Container and the Python and NETCONF API’s to completely onboard, configure and manage network devices. This session details the ZTP and Guest Shell features and explores some common basic and advanced use cases. With the newest release of Cisco IOS XE, there is now support for the RC8572 Secure ZTP. This feature will be demonstrated including an explanation of the key components such as conveyed information, the ownership certificate, and the ownership voucher. The setup configuration and demo for Secure ZTP will be covered in this session.
Programmability, Automation Model Driven Telemetry on Cisco IOS XE with a dash of YANG Suite [DEVNET-1283]
This programmability and automation session on Cisco IOS XE and Catalyst includes an overview of the YANG based API’s and the associated YANG Suite tooling will be used extensively. The Model Driven Telemetry capabilities will also be discussed and the example Docker container for collection and visualization will be demonstrated. As well as ways to create new telemetry subscriptions using the Telegraf, Influx, and Grafana stack and YANG Suite.
Programmability on Catalyst 9000 enabling Sustainability Telemetry Dashboards [BRKAPP-2245]
With a growing need to be more sustainable, learn how to build telemetry dashboards to quickly determine how to be more efficient in your network. This session will cover key sustainability features of interest, how to collect telemetry data for those features, and how to configure telemetry subscriptions. We will cover model driven telemetry using Telegraf, Influx and Grafana. We will also cover how to create a telemetry subscription manually using CLI and then how to create many subscriptions automatically on multiple devices at once using the Cisco IOS XE Terraform provider and REST API. This will save time and remove potential room for configuration error at scale.
