Elden Ring, 2022's Game of the Year, hits a record low price of $20 on Amazon for Black Friday

Speaking from personal experience, gaming can be an expensive hobby, so I’m always on the lookout for killer deals to fuel my neverending addiction. I recently found a whopper of a deal on Amazon. Elden Ring, which won Game of the Year at The Game Awards in 2022, has seen a huge 40% discount, bringing it down to just $20.

This deal extends to three versions of the game: Elden Ring on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. So what makes the game so good that it’s considered the best game of 2022?

Elden Ring was developed by Japanese game developer From Software. It puts players in the role of the Tarnished, a nameless warrior in a mysterious land who seeks the Elden Ring in order to become the Elden Lord. Think of it like Lord of the Rings, but instead of Frodo going on a journey to destroy the One Ring, he looks for it.

The title takes after the critically acclaimed Dark Souls series by having challenging gameplay that pushes players to their limits. You have a ton of different weapons at your disposal, from swords to spears and magic. The main difference between Dark Souls and Elden Rings is the latter doesn’t put you on a specific path. It’s up to you how you traverse the Lands Between and become ruler.

On top of engaging gameplay and a vast area to explore, much of the story and worldbuilding was written by famed author George R. R. Martin, who is also behind the high fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire. He helped create the world inside the game, making it feel truly alive.

This deal extends to Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Edition. It’s the same game but includes the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC (download content), which expands the story even further while adding new weapons, spells, equipment, and more not in the original version. It’s worth pointing out that Shadow of the Erdtree is up for Game of the Year at this year’s Game Awards, so we could see the Elden Ring series win the same title twice.

Because this version incorporates so much, it is more expensive, but luckily, it has seen a discount, too. Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is available on Amazon for $50, a $30 discount of the original price.
