Fan of Microsoft's Windows PC accessories? They've been resurrected by another brand

Phone case and accessory makers Incase just announced a new line of peripherals “designed by Microsoft,” unveiling the first products from the two brands’ partnership that will revive Microsoft’s discontinued devices. Incase, best known for its collection of cases, laptop sleeves, and bags, announced the collaboration earlier this year, marking the company’s first line of PC accessories. 

Last year, Microsoft discontinued its own line of peripherals, including mice, keyboards, and audio devices, consolidating its manufacturing into the Surface line. If you were a fan of these devices, they’re back — just under a different brand name.

Incase’s “Designed by Microsoft” lineup features just two mice so far, but they’re exactly the same as Microsoft’s discontinued versions. The Modern Mobile Mouse and Mobile Mouse 1850 are reanimated versions of Microsoft’s models (with an Incase logo instead of the Microsoft one, of course) and are now available on the company’s site.

Incase says the partnership “brings together Microsoft’s 30-year legacy of expertise and innovation with Incase’s decades of unrivaled performance and sought-after style.” While Microsoft accessories certainly weren’t everyone’s favorites, the Modern Mobile Mouse is instantly recognizable and has its own appreciators.

Microsoft will continue producing its own peripherals for the Surface line. Still, they retain their premium product angle, like the Surface Keyboard for $130 and the Surface Pro Flex Keyboard for a whopping $350. On the other hand, the new Incase products will follow more accessible product lines.

Other discontinued Microsoft products that Incase says it will bring back include the Sculpt keyboard and mouse, the Wireless Comfort keyboard and mouse, the Modern Mobile Headset, and the Modern Webcam, all of which will be unchanged from their previous versions.

As makers of bags, sleeves, and phone cases, these will be the first PC accessories Incase offers, but as it inherits Microsoft’s manufacturing components and supply chain, the quality of the devices should remain unchanged. With additional products confirmed to be released in the coming months, we’ll be keeping an eye out for the next batch of revived Microsoft accessories.
