Samsung likely won't unveil a Galaxy Ring 2 tomorrow – but you can look forward to this instead

There’s been plenty of chatter about Samsung debuting a second-generation Galaxy Ring at its Unpacked event tomorrow. At last year’s January Samsung Unpacked event, the tech giant gave a sneak peek at its first-ever smart ring that would roll out that summer. Naturally, people are wondering if Samsung will do the same with Galaxy Ring 2. 

While a second-generation Galaxy Ring would be exciting, we aren’t convinced it will be coming any time soon. That’s because just last week Samsung announced that it will be expanding the sizing of the first-gen Galaxy Ring.

The smart ring is getting two new and larger size options, size 14 and 15. This expands the size offerings from size five to size 15. People can buy the two new additional sizes starting tomorrow, Jan. 22. Plus, on Feb. 7, the Samsung smart ring will also be available in 16 additional markets worldwide. 

It also unveiled sleep features in the smart ring app that aim to improve a ring wearer’s sleep health. This includes a sleep environment report to help nail your bedroom sleeping conditions, sleep time guidance to help you get to bed and wake up at the right time, and a mindfulness tracker to manage stress levels ahead of bedtime. 

The expanded sizing puts Samsung, the first major tech brand to release a smart ring, in closer competition with smart ring top dog, Oura, whose sizing offerings include ring sizes four to 15. It also shows that Samsung wants to get more rings in people’s hands and is doing so by expanding its size options.

Earlier this month, DigiTimes reported that the Galaxy Ring 2 would be launched at Unpacked with a longer battery life, improved accuracy, better AI, and two new sizes. Given that Samsung already announced that it will expand its sizing for the Galaxy Ring, we aren’t sold on the launch of a Galaxy Ring 2 just yet. But we’ll have to tune in to see if Samsung teases the second-gen smart ring at the end, as it did last year.  

While we might not get a second-gen Galaxy Ring unveiling at Unpacked tomorrow, we can expect the usual releases of mobile hardware, like its Galaxy S25 lineup and AI upgrades across devices.
