Is this the OnePlus Open 2? Oppo's new foldable phone is as thin as its USB-C port
A new foldable phone is about to hit the market, and it may be as thin as a phone can possibly be.
Oppo is billing its upcoming Find N5 (it will likely be the OnePlus Open 2 when it hits the US market) as the world’s thinnest foldable. That title currently belongs to the Magic V3 from Honor, which sits at just 4.35 mm unfolded. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Pixel 9 Pro Fold both top 5 mm unfolded.
Company product manager Zhou Yibao shared images of the device in a social media post on Weibo, saying the thinness wasn’t limited by the device, but by the charging port. He didn’t reveal the actual size but offered several comparisons.
In one image, the unfolded phone seems to sit slightly smaller than a stack of four credit cards. In another, it looks about half the depth of an iPhone. In a third, it’s close to two Chinese Yuan coins. A similar “anything-but-the-metric-system” video from last week showed the phone being the same as exactly 39 sticky notes.

In short, this is a very thin phone.
The phone is so sleek, that there’s almost no room on either side of the USB-C port (2.6 mm itself). Given that USB-C is now the standard, you have to wonder if it’s even possible to produce a thinner device as there’s not much else to remove.
It’s likely the phone will have a sizable camera bump, but this is still a very impressive device overall. If the camera quality and battery life are comparable, this should be some decent competition for the other foldables on the market.
Availability
The N5 will get a Chinese release sometime next month, and if it follows the same schedule as Oppo’s other devices, it will probably have an international release a few months later. As mentioned earlier, this may also be a sign of what’s to come from OnePlus later this year, as the two companies often share resources and development, and have released nearly identical devices in the past. If that’s true, the OnePlus Open 2 may be the foldable phone to beat in the US in 2025.
