Is Google's $250-per-month AI subscription plan worth it? Here's what's included

The company unveiled Google AI Ultra today, a plan with the biggest usage limits for Google’s suite of AI tools and access to the highest versions of those tools.
What is AI Ultra?
Google AI Ultra is intended for filmmakers, developers, and creative professionals and gives users access to tools like Veo, Imagen, Whisk, NotebookLM, and a new tool called Flow.

Subscribers also get a massive expansion in storage across Google platforms, plus YouTube Premium ($13.99 per month on its own).
What’s included in AI Ultra?
Here’s a full breakdown of what the new plan includes:
- The best version of Gemini: Subscribers to Google’s AI Ultra plan will get the highest usage limits across Deep Research, video generation with Veo 2, early access to Veo 3, and, in the coming weeks, access to Deep Think in 2.5 Pro, Google’s new enhanced reading mode. Google says this version of Gemini is designed for coding, academic research, and complex creative endeavors.
- A new AI filmmaking tool: Flow, a custom-designed tool for DeepMind’s most advanced models like Veo, Imagen, and Gemini, that lets you craft cinematic clips, scenes, and cohesive narratives with a simple prompt. You’ll get the highest limits in Flow with 1080p video generation, advanced camera controls, and Veo 3.
- Whisk: Whisk Animate lets you explore and visualize ideas with text and image prompts to turn those images into eight-second videos with Veo 2, and Google Ultra AI gives you the highest usage limits.
- NotebookLM: Google’s high-powered research assistant is good for studying, teaching, and research, and AI Ultra gets you the highest usage limits and most advanced models.
- Everyday AI: AI isn’t just for projects. With the AI Ultra plan, you get Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Vids, and more.
- Early access to Gemini in Chrome: Starting today, subscribers can get early access to Gemini in Chrome, which allows users to break down complex information on a page and complete complex tasks based on the page’s content.
- Project Mariner: Project Mariner understands the contents of your screen, including images, code, forms, and more. A browser in a side panel gives you space to input instructions like, “Memorize this list of companies. Then, find their websites and look up a contact email I can use to reach them.”
- YouTube Premium: All the benefits of YouTube Premium, including ad-free viewing, background viewing, offline downloads, ad-free YouTube Music, and enhanced video quality.
- 30TB of storage: Get a massive 30TB storage capacity across Drive, Photos, and Gmail.
