I found the world's smallest 65W USB-C charger, and it's my new travel essential

I’m rather obsessed with USB-C chargers, and not just because I must test dozens of them every year. And sometimes one catches my eye.

Take the Rolling Square Supertiny 65W. Not much bigger than a golf ball, this thing can push out an impressive 65W of power and still be cool to the touch. 

I first heard about the Supertiny back when Rolling Square was having a crowdfunder for it, and so confident I was that the product would ship that I actually dropped the coin to get myself a couple (that’s rare for me!).

The other day they arrived on schedule – a UK and EU version – and I immediate started testing them.

First impressions of them are that they are solid, dense units. They’re the sort of thing that’s going to survive being rattled about in a suitcase or bag. 

They’re super compact and built to the sort of precision that I expect from Rolling Square, a company that designs its stuff in Switzerland and prides itself on quality.

First, the name — Supertiny. These are tiny chargers. The US version measures 1.7 by 1.37 by 1.37 inches, thanks to the folding prong design, making it ideal for tucking into a shoulder bag, pocket, or backpack.

The exterior is made from a tough V0 fireproof polymer, and comes with the option for US, UK, and EU plugs on the end (there’s no interchangeable version available, which is a shame), and there’s one USB-C port — which has a neat orange accent to make finding the port easier. 

Ribbing on the exterior not only makes it easier to grip the plug but also helps to dissipate heat and make the unit feel cooler to the touch. This is a really clever design that looks good and is practical — again, something I’ve come to expect from Rolling Square.

Internally, the Supertiny uses GaN (gallium nitride) transistors to create a charger that’s smaller, more efficient, and cooler than silicon technology, and it supports USB-C Power Delivery (PD) for fast and efficient power transfer, making it compatible with most USB-C devices.
