See Cisco at South By Southwest 2023
SXSW (pronounced south by southwest) is Austin’s city-wide yearly festival for all things music, film, and tech. As a Cisconian, I’m intrigued by the new tech and startups. As an Austinite, I tend to avoid driving or dining downtown to avoid traffic and crowds. Nevertheless, my love for all things new and shiny has overshadowed my introverted self from staying at home, and I’ll be speaking and representing Cisco at SXSW for 2 days!
Startup Crawl at the Capital Factory
The fun kicks off Friday March 10th at 5PM for the Startup Crawl at the Capital Factory. A few of my colleagues and I will be showcasing the hottest open-source tool for RESTful APIs (API Insights), giving away swag, and challenging attendees with our “Are you smarter than a 5th grade ChatGPT bot” trivia game. Our friends over at Cisco ET&I will be joining us with more giveaways and demos of Panoptica and Calisti. We wrap up the Startup Crawl at 9PM and last year there were over 10,000 attendees so make sure you stop by early.
Women in Tech summit
I am extremely excited to share that on Monday, April 13th we will be continuing the SXSW experience by hosting a WIT summit starting at 9AM titled: “Breaking the Code: Women in Tech and Venture Capital.”
The Bubbles and Business brunch starts off the day with small eats, beverages, and (my favorite part) an opportunity to meet with local women-owned startups! Of course there will also be demos of API Insights, Panoptica, Calisti, and other Cisco tech. After the brunch, Cisco’s Lea Ryder will kick things off with a warm introduction before starting three panel sessions:
- Women in Emerging Tech: Breaking Barriers and Shaping the Future of the Industry
- Code for All: Strategies for Making Coding Languages More Inclusive
- Women Entrepreneurs Navigating an Uncertain Funding Landscape: Insights & Strategies for Success
After the panels, the floor will re-open for some final networking and we will wrap-up at 2PM. If you are attending in person make sure to get your early crawl access registration, follow along with the @CiscoDevNet social media channels to keep up with us from afar, and stay tuned to the DevNet events page to find out where to catch us next 😉
I can’t wait to see you there and safe travels to all who are planning on attending!
We’d love to hear what you think.
