Creating Exhilarating and Exciting Experiences with Cisco Webex and McLaren Racing
Cisco Webex is the world’s leading collaboration solution, powering Fortune 500 companies, governments, universities, healthcare organizations, and now, Formula 1 racing! Today, McLaren Racing announced that Cisco Webex is the official collaboration partner of the McLaren Formula 1 team.
Embracing Hybrid Sports
2020 was a year unlike any other; we saw five years of digital transformation in five months and a massive acceleration of future of work initiatives. Every industry was impacted… including sports and racing.
The key to returning to “normal” for any industry is to find ways to remove the physical barriers created as a result of the global pandemic. And by integrating the Webex platform into their day-to-day activities, McLaren Racing is doing just that. They are embracing hybrid sports – bridging in-person interactions with digital connections for their McLaren F1 drivers, team, fans, and partners.
Webex Powering McLaren Slipstream
Cisco Webex will be integrated into McLaren Slipstream, the innovative, digital experience which allows partners and their guests to experience a race day live, wherever they are in the world. McLaren Slipstream is their official streaming program, trialed since last summer and designed to both renew and deepen engagement and excitement across their partner network.
With Webex powering Slipstream, audiences will be immersed in exclusive behind-the-scenes content and with Webex’s AI-powered social features, which provide McLaren real-time data on audience reactions and emotional feedback. The platform allows partners to be amongst the drivers, mechanics, and engineers, and witness tech and race insights — all from the comfort of their own home.
McLaren Racing, an industry leader and innovator on and off the track, was founded by New Zealand racing driver Bruce McLaren in 1963. The team entered its first Formula 1 race in 1966, since then McLaren has won 20 Formula 1 world championships, more than 180 Formula 1 grands prix, the Le Mans 24 Hours at its first attempt and the Indianapolis 500 three times.
Creating 10x Better Experiences
At Webex, our vision is to create 10x better experiences than in-person interactions… and when we are in-person to make those 10x better, too! With Webex, we have been focused on creating amazing hybrid work experiences – and now we’re helping to drive hybrid sports experiences.
Think about the possibilities – when attending a race live, racecars practically fly by. But when joining an immersive behind-the-scenes experience, viewers have real-time engagement from hosts and, in the near future with real-time language translation, Webex will provide personalized language translations that add to the overall experience.
There’s no question that the future of racing, and the larger sports industry, will have a new definition of success based on the agility of their applications and connectivity. This unique partnership aligns two iconic brands, and will help to extend the excitement and exhilaration of racing to more people than ever. Be sure to look for the Cisco Webex logo at upcoming F1 races on the MCL35M!
