Accelerating Our Security Cloud Vision: Cisco Announces Intent to Acquire Valtix

When we think about today’s enterprise infrastructures, at their core, they comprise a few elements: multiple public clouds (primarily, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) and clusters of private clouds. The security controls that govern these disparate clouds, however, work in isolation. These siloes create an issue with visibility, which in turn leads to an issue of efficacy (you can’t protect what you can’t see), which creates a substantial operational burden for security teams.
Across these multiple clouds, one thing stitches all of this together: the network. It is the one place that sees all the traffic that flows between applications and from applications to users, and therefore, is the only place where you have the visibility, telemetry, and policy enforcement needed for consolidated, consistent security.
This is a central principle for our vision for the Cisco Security Cloud, a global, cloud-delivered, integrated networking and security platform for organizations of any shape and size. In alignment with that vision, Cisco is excited to announce our intent to acquire Valtix, a privately held cloud network security company founded in 2018.
As a strategic investor in Valtix since 2020, Cisco supports Valtix’s commitment to simplify network security, protecting workloads no matter which cloud they are created or consumed in. With their cloud- native, easy-to-use control plane, they enable customers with common policy and enforcements of networking across all major public cloud environments.
We expect to close the acquisition by the end of Cisco’s third quarter of FY23. The Valtix team will join the Security Business Group, where they will work closely to integrate into our Security Cloud portfolio and accelerate our path to delivering a seamless experience in securing workloads across multicloud environments. We are excited to share more details in the very near future. Stay tuned.
We look forward to welcoming the Valtix team and working together to accelerate the Cisco Security Cloud.
