Announcing VMware Cloud Designlets – VMware Cloud Community
Today we are pleased to announce a new set of design resources to help our customers architect environments in VMware Cloud! We’re calling them “designlets.” Designlets are intended to be short-form guides that describe a specific feature or design paradigm. They help identify nuanced considerations and design impacts for a particular component. These designlets also serve as a quick-reference guide, providing key highlights and links to additional resources that is part of the larger VMware Cloud Ready Framework (VMRCF).
Network connectivity is one of the very first step that customers need to think about after deploying a VMware Cloud based SDDC. There are many different options and configurations to consider. To start, we are releasing the following three designlets that will cover network connectivity for VMware Cloud on AWS:
New designlets will be shared on VMware Cloud Tech Zone regularly, with useful information covering all aspects of VMware Cloud on AWS and other VMware Cloud based offerings. Networking is only one piece of the larger puzzle, so look forward to future designlets covering topics like Storage, Availability, Security, Kubernetes, integration with cloud-native services, and everything else in-between.
Each designlet will follow a set format, with pre-requisites, cost and performance considerations, links to relevant documentation, as well as planning and implementation details. Designlets should be considered living documents. They will be updated as new information or recommendations are validated, and each will include a “last updated” date to reflect recent edits or additions.
Our goal with designlets is to provide an at-a-glance design reference for complex features. When considered alongside our existing technical documentation, hands-on labs, reference architectures, e-books, and the new VMware Cloud Ready Framework, you have a complete set of resources to guide you in building a modern multi-cloud-ready deployment that will support you through your application modernization journey and beyond.
