Wolverine hits pause for cloud success

Wolverine hits pause for cloud success

Sometimes — even in IT — slowing down can pay off big-time. For Wolverine Worldwide, COVID-19 proved the point. While many companies accelerated their cloud migrations in response to the pandemic, the 140-year-old boot and shoe manufacturer halted much of its technology projects to focus on keeping the business afloat, a decision that left the company a bit behind where it wanted to be but better positioned to succeed, thanks to the availability of more…

Chinese Cyber Espionage Groups Increasingly Targeting Russia

Chinese Cyber Espionage Groups Increasingly Targeting Russia

Chinese APT groups are increasingly targeting Russian organizations following the war in Ukraine, according to research by SentinelLabs. The latest investigation indicated that a Chinese state-sponsored cyber espionage group launched a “cluster” of phishing emails to deliver remote access Trojan (RAT) malware, most commonly Bisonal, against Russian targets in recent weeks. SentinelLabs researchers attributed this threat activity “with high confidence” to a Chinese state-backed group, although “specific actor attribution is unclear at this time.” The new…

Firewalls Aren’t Enough to Protect Against Evolving Cyber Threats

How to Reduce WAN Costs While Preserving the Digital Experience

How to Reduce WAN Costs While Preserving the Digital Experience

Conventional networking models that backhaul traffic to the data center are seen as slow,…

Using the eval command in Linux to run variables as commands

Using the eval command in Linux to run variables as commands

There are probably a lot of Linux users who have never encountered the eval command. In fact, it’s not really a “command”, but a bash built-in that’s meant to process the value of a variable as a command. Your Path to a More Efficient Network Operations

Your Path to a More Efficient Network Operations

In the coming years, NASA’s James Webb telescope will discover the edge of the observable universe, allowing astronomers to search for the very earliest stars and galaxies, formed more than 13 billion years ago. That’s quite a contrast to today’s network operations visibility, which can sometimes feel like the lens cap has been left on the telescope. Explosive growth in new technology adoption, growing complexity, and the explosive use of internet and cloud networks has created…
