Beyerdynamic's DT 990 Pro headphones get a refresh, promising portability without compromise

Beyerdynamic has announced the newest addition to its professional headphone lineup, promising improved compatibility with portable audio equipment, enhanced comfort, and a wider frequency response range. The new DT 990 Pro X are the successive mastering and mixing headphones to the DT 990 Pro, both ideal for musicians, producers, and podcasters who need studio headphones on the go.

Beyerdynamic’s Pro X open-back headphones have a 48-ohm impedance, and the Stellar.45 driver system that allows for a stronger driving force across an array of devices, making the headphones more compatible with portable setups. According to Beyerdynamic, the Stellar.45 system can reach 5 Hz to 40,000 Hz.
The DT 990 Pro X come with a detachable 3m mini-XLR to 3.5mm cable for user flexibility, allowing wearers to swap for cables with different lengths and inputs. Fitted with velour earpads and an ergonomic headband, Beyerdynamic says the DT 990 Pro X are comfortable enough for hours-long studio sessions.

The DT 990 Pro X are part of Beyerdynamic’s open-back headphone family, most ideal for critical listening. According to Beyerdynamic, the Pro X-series headphones’ flexibility makes them better suited for audio professionals in the studio, on the go, or in home studios, as opposed to the DT 990 Pro, which perform best in a professional studio setup.
