Cisco Welcomes Waldo McMillian as Head of the Washington, DC Office – Cisco Blogs
This is a very exciting moment in Washington. The Biden Administration and a new Congress are working to accelerate a recovery that is swift and effective. Federal agencies are harnessing the potential of technology to evolve the way we work, learn, receive healthcare and even govern. The opportunity for Cisco to share our technology expertise and help power a more inclusive recovery has never been more clear.
Today, I’m proud to welcome Waldo McMillian to the Cisco team as the new head of the Washington, DC office. He’ll lead our engagements with the White House, Congress and Cabinet agencies. And he will be an excellent advocate for the power of technology to drive economic activity, innovation and American competitiveness.
Waldo comes to us from Charter Communications, where he was the Vice President of Legislative Affairs and helped lead the company’s federal public policy advocacy efforts. He began his career in Congress, where he provided counsel to then-Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV).
Throughout his career, Waldo has been an effective advocate for policies that foster innovation, enable the future of wireless technologies and help bridge the digital divide. His depth of experience navigating the federal government and proven public policy track record are a tremendous addition to Cisco.
“Cisco’s mission to power an inclusive future for all inspires me, and I’m excited to be a part of this exceptional company,” Waldo said. “I look forward to working with Cisco’s talented team of government affairs professionals for many years to come as we help the company achieve its public policy goals in Washington.”
Passionate about education and empowering others, Waldo currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Maryland-based Friends Community School—a kindergarten through grade eight Quaker school—and the Corporate Advisory Council of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.
Waldo grew up in Wilmington, Delaware and received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Howard University and Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his wife and three children and coaching youth sports.
Waldo makes a great addition to Cisco’s talented and passionate team. We’re certain he will help accelerate our efforts to build relationships with leaders in Washington and help power an inclusive future for all.
