Cisco Wins 2021 Frost and Sullivan Market Leadership Award – Cisco Blogs

Cisco is proud to be the only vendor recognized by Frost & Sullivan with the Best Practices Market Leadership Award for excellence in the network firewall market. This award recognizes that Cisco achieved the greatest market share in the global firewall market due to outstanding performance, products, and service. We’re honored to receive industry recognition for making security less complex, more agile, and better able to defend against today’s and tomorrow’s threats.

In recent years, we’ve focused relentlessly on innovating to lead the market, delivering greater efficacy through our firewalls, and building out platform capabilities so that each firewall now comes with an XDR entitlement through Cisco SecureX. I couldn’t be prouder of our Cisco Secure Firewall team and our amazing customers who continue to develop their network security around our firewall, and who have pushed us to match their ambitions with our security portfolio.

Frost & Sullivan applies a rigorous analytical process to evaluate multiple nominees for each award category before determining the final award recipient. The process involves a detailed evaluation of best practices criteria for each nominated company.

This accolade highlights Cisco’s execution, delivering upon our vision to help customers achieve simpler security with superior visibility and efficiency at scale. The award represents years of innovation and commitment to reinventing cybersecurity in order to keep pace with increasing digital transformation demands across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Harmonize your security across networks, workloads, and applications

As business-critical applications are now hybrid and multi-cloud, and users need secure access to resources from everywhere, a traditional firewall approach no longer works. A monolithic network perimeter has evolved into multiple micro-perimeters. And going beyond the network perimeter concept to deliver new capabilities, like application microsegmentation and containerized firewalling, is critical. For many organizations, users and application microservices are the new perimeter. Cisco meets the need with a mixture of physical, virtual, and cloud-native appliances, plus application workload controls.

Cisco Secure Firewall keeps organizations moving while keeping them secure. Secure Firewall addresses security challenges with unique features like the Snort 3 Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and the industry’s only capability for maintaining Layer 7 policies with encrypted Transport Layer Security (TLS) version 1.3 traffic. Secure Firewall’s comprehensive portfolio meets use cases for all organizations, from small businesses to large service providers.

In addition, Cisco is recognized for offering firewalling in many more form factors. This year alone, we have introduced new virtual firewalls for private and public cloud environments and hyperconverged infrastructure. Secure Firewall Cloud Native, for example, is a lightweight containerized firewall ideal for securing Kubernetes environments. Cisco firewalling is also critical in helping customers of all sizes along their journey to Secure Access Service Edge (SASE); cloud-delivered firewalls are also critical to SASE and Meraki MX firewalls for lean IT environments. This robust range provides cloud-edge perimeter protection, broad visibility, zone segmentation, and application microsegmentation.

We recognize that firewalling must be part of a complete platform approach to help simplify security and provide greater visibility and efficiency. Since we launched Cisco SecureX in March 2020, all of our security products have come with platform capabilities included in the license. These capabilities include the ability to observe activity across the security portfolio, monitor metrics associated with files, network traffic, and endpoint behavior, and to act when an incident occurs. Secure Firewall customers can access these benefits at no extra charge, and integrate their network security products with other Cisco and third-party control points.

We recognize that not all organizations are at the same place when it comes to security, cloud migration, and digitization, and we want to empower them to approach security their way. We’re energized by our firewall momentum and will continue our mission of empowering the world to reach its full potential, securely.
