Google's new AI tool is changing the way teams work and organize research
Business leaders rejoice: Google NotebookLM Plus could be your next AI tool for streamlining and organizing your operations or revitalizing a research-intensive project.
What are NotebookLM and NotebookLM Plus?
Google’s AI-powered NotebookLM is a free, experimental AI notebook designed to be part note-taker, part collaborator, part data collector, and part librarian. It brings together all the text, notes, documents, and other research materials you need in one place.
After expanding its source base to include YouTube URLs, audio files, website links, and more, the virtual notebook now allows users to summarize lectures, compare the contents of audio files, and transform video and .mp3/.wav audio into study guides.

Audio Overviews, which allows users to convert their notebook content and research into engaging conversations with two AI hosts, is also a recent addition to the AI notebook, satisfying more use cases.
With NotebookLM Plus, users can upgrade their virtual notebook and enhance productivity with premium features and perks unavailable to free users. For example, NotebookLM Plus users are afforded “5x more Audio Overviews, notebooks, queries, and sources per notebook.”
NotebookLM Plus can be a helpful assistant for any team or professional. Here’s how.
How to use NotebookLM Plus for your business
NotebookLM Plus makes it possible to create shared notebooks for your entire team. This capability creates a centralized digital space for important resources — making access to internal documents and employee training materials easier.
Additionally, the Plus plan can help teams collaborate on important tasks, documents, and projects. With premium features such as “Chat-only” access, notebook owners and editors can choose to share a “Chat-only” notebook with their team or grant members access to the entire notebook.
NotebookLM Plus enables teams to customize chat responses and personalize how information is presented and orated depending on business needs. Users can choose for information to be “delivered in the style of an analyst, a marketer, or a strategist.” Users can also customize the output length to be longer or shorter.
Another perk of NotebookLM Plus is Notebook Analytics. Once a notebook is shared with other team members or outside parties, editors or owners can view data on how many users have accessed it daily, and how many queries they’ve made each day in a week.

With the Audio Overviews feature, NotebookLM Plus users can create podcast-style conversations that detail key takeaways from meetings, documents, and research analysis. In addition, users can also employ a new interactive mode — exclusive to NotebookLM Plus users — that asks follow-up questions as they engage with the material.
Additionally, because NotebookLM is powered by Gemini 2.0, users can turn data analytics, market trends, or competitor analysis into concise summaries, key insights, or audio recordings with the Audio Overviews feature, as explained above.
Google says the feature is still experimental and has limitations, such as taking several minutes to generate an Audio Overview for large notebooks and sometimes outputting inaccuracies.

NotebookLM Plus is now available in all Workspace Business and Enterprise Standard plans and above. The AI tool can also be purchased standalone via Google Cloud and is coming soon to Google One AI Premium.
