Hisense unveils a monster 136-inch TV with Micro LED display
Today at CES 2025, Hisense announced its first Micro LED display TV, the 136MX.
The company claims its new flagship TV was developed in response to the consumer demand for larger, more immersive screens that maintain durability and long-term performance. Larger indeed. As its name might suggest, the panel measures an astounding 136 inches.
Micro LED technology is different from mini LED in that it doesn’t require a separate backlighting system. Also — as the name might suggest — micro LEDs are smaller than mini LEDs, allowing for even more precision in terms of brightness, color, and contrast. And of course, it’s newer, and thereby more expensive.

According to Hisense, the 136MX incorporates almost 25 million microscopic LEDs, with each pixel serving as an independent light source composed of red, green, and blue LEDs. This self-emissive design precludes the need for a backlight and achieves near-infinite contrast. Unlike OLED, Micro LED maintains consistent, high-quality visuals without the risk of burn-in, making it ideal for bright living spaces and home theaters.
Hisense’s Hi-View AI Engine X processor employs AI-based algorithms to optimize each frame, delivering accurate color conversion and adaptive 3D color management. HDR10+, Dolby Vision IQ, and Filmmaker Mode are along for the ride to enhance picture quality in concert with both the content on your screen and the environment of your viewing area.
The 136MX covers 95% of the BT.2020 color gamut and claims to reach up to 10,000 nits of peak brightness. To minimize reflectivity even in well-lit rooms, Hisense has included black nanocrystals in its formula. By reducing the amount of light that bounces off the screen, black nanocrystals contribute to deeper blacks and sharp contrast even in a brightly lit environment.

The audio system of the 136MX offers no new surprises, but it does have Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual X. With a screen this massive, you can expect an immersive sonic (and visual) experience. WiFi 6E, eARC support, and HDMI 2.1 ports are available on the panel, and gamers will enjoy 120Hz VRR, Auto Low Latency Mode, and FreeSync Premium Pro.
In keeping with the minimalistic, elegant design of newer TVs, Hisense engineered the 136MX with an ultra-slim form factor, claiming to blend “high-tech sophistication with modern aesthetics.”
Running on Hisense’s proprietary smart platform called VIDAA OS, the 136MX offers the usual catalog of popular streaming services (Netflix, Disney+, YouTube) along with access to thousands of apps. To expedite your navigation through its interface, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are eager voice assistants ready to do the searching for you.

The 136MX is an ambitious symbol of Hisense’s willingness to play ball with higher-end brands on the market. Its primary distinction is marked by Micro LED technology, which eliminates traditional backlight limitations and ensures high-quality performance for many years to come.
Details on pricing for the 136MX are forthcoming, and it is certain to be a hefty figure.
