Jeff Campbell to Serve as Cisco’s Chief Government Strategy Officer
Today, I am excited to announce that Senior Vice President Jeff Campbell has been promoted to Chief Government Strategy Officer of Cisco. Jeff succeeds Michael Timmeny, who previously held the role and opened Cisco’s Washington, D.C. office in 1998. Michael will now serve as an Executive Advisor for Cisco.
As Chief Government Strategy Officer, Jeff will lead Cisco’s government relations worldwide, managing a team that spans six continents and is charged with advancing issues that support Cisco’s robust corporate and technology policy agenda. This includes conferring with world leaders, important legislators, critical regulators, and industry stakeholders to shape public policies that foster innovation and emerging digital technologies, promote broadband adoption, and protect global competitiveness.
In his two decades at Cisco and during his previous role leading Cisco’s government affairs activities for the Americas, Jeff has made an incredible impact. He has protected and expanded the U.S. “E-rate” program that subsidizes network connectivity in schools and libraries, led a team that successfully advocated for including $48.5B in broadband infrastructure funds within the recently enacted U.S. infrastructure law, helped transform the U.S. federal Universal Service subsidy from narrow-band services to broadband services, and engaged the U.S. government in efforts to prioritize and upgrade trustworthy equipment in telecom networks.
“I am immensely proud to have the opportunity to lead Cisco Government Affairs and drive meaningful accomplishments for the company’s most critical public policy issues – from supply chain and cybersecurity to international trade and growing broadband networks worldwide. Michael Timmeny has built a global group of exceptional talent, and I am excited to set this team loose with the governments of the world to advance Cisco’s purpose to power a more inclusive future for all.”
– Jeff Campbell
And through Michael’s foundational work and the development of a team of kind, passionate professionals, Cisco has become a trusted partner with governments around the world and in the United States. During his tenure, we have welcomed and hosted global luminaries, heads of state, members of Congress, and public sector leaders.
“It has been an amazing privilege to establish Cisco as a top player with governments—not only within the U.S. but around the globe. There is no better person than Jeff Campbell to carry this success forward and lead this world-class group of professionals who are the best in the business.”
– Michael Timmeny
Please join me in congratulating Jeff and wishing him well in his new role, and in congratulating Michael for the phenomenal impact and legacy he has achieved!
