JMGO just unveiled its flagship laser projector, but you may have to wait until the fall
At CES 2025 in Las Vegas Day 1, projector manufacturer JMGO showcased its flagship ultra-short throw product, the O2S Ultra.
Declaring the O2S to be the “world’s smallest laser TV,” the company touted its sleek aesthetics alongside some other impressive specifications and features. JMGO, to be clear, exclusively makes portable projectors, but the technology behind machines like the O2S has earned them the moniker of “laser TV.”
JMGO is certainly proud of its form factor, comparing its 12.3 x 11.4 x 5.5-inch body to the size of a shoebox. Similar in size, yes, but there’s otherwise nothing boxy about the O2S, with its high-luster finish and elegantly curved edges.
Let’s get to the part about lasers. With an impressive throw ratio of 0.18:1, the O2S Ultra can project as large as a 100-inch screen from less than six inches away without sacrificing visual quality. This invites lots of flexibility for where to place an O2S in your viewing space, while also not taking up much space.

JMGO credits its proprietary MALC 3.0 technology with the projector’s high-performance output, an innovation that “overcomes the traditional trade-offs between brightness, color accuracy, and contrast,” because the O2S addresses these three variables evenly and all at once.
Besides a requisite autofocus capability, auto keystone correction and smart screen fitting are also essential calibration features of any projector. JMGO promises these alignment tools in the O2S will make setting it up intuitive, effortless, and frustration-free.
As a 4K resolution projector, we can expect it to throw crisply detailed images and vibrant colors (covering the BT.2020 color gamut by 110%). The kicker, though, is that this image quality is sustained for up to an astounding 180 inches of screen size. Its full on / full off (FOFO) contrast ratio of 1,800:1 is fairly modest but also decent, at least for most lighting conditions.

More and more projectors on the market are being integrated with smart features, as is the O2S. Google TV, in this case, grants it access to Netflix and other streaming services as part of JMGO’s intention to provide an all-in-one entertainment hub. Being a smart device is of course different from being an AI device, and since AI was not mentioned in the briefing, the O2S will have to wait for a successor to take up that mantle.
JMGO plans to launch the O2S Ultra globally as late as fall 2025, bringing its ultra-short throw projector to homes worldwide. JMGO has not yet released details on pricing.
