Military Career Day: A Special Invitation to Veterans
Cisco invites you to join us for a special virtual event, Military Career Day, where we’ll be helping active-duty service members, veterans, and military spouses who are seeking a career transition to the civilian workforce.
Cisco’s VETS Employee Resource Organization looks forward to hosting this year’s Military Career Day (formerly known as Veterans Career Transition Day) on Thursday October 13, 2022. The purpose of this annual event is to help military service members, veterans, and spouses on their journey to meaningful employment after military service, no matter where that may be.
Building a bridge from the military to meaningful careers in technology
Cisco’s Military Career Day is unique because it’s organized by veterans and spouses who have personally experienced the process of transitioning to the private sector. Their knowledge is invaluable in guiding others through the often confusing process. During the event, we hope to highlight what work after service looks like — and the many ways that Cisco values top talent like themselves. Not only is it an opportunity to help transitioning veterans on their journey to private sector employment, but it also helps Cisco gain top and diverse talent leads from each year’s veteran candidate pool.
We value the unique perspective veterans bring to our team (see how). That’s why Military Career Day has been hosted by Cisco’s VETS Inclusive Community for over 13 years in the United States (both in-person and virtually). This year is poised to be the best event yet with record breaking virtual attendees. And for the first time ever, this event will be available beyond the United States, including in the United Kingdom, India, and Australia/New Zealand.
Cisco’s Military Career Day unlocks opportunities for veterans
This year’s event will be a combination of keynote presentations, information about Cisco, and live Q&A panels. In addition to a great conversation about transitioning to the private sector, attendees will be able to unlock access to special resources after the event. This also includes potential mentorship opportunities.
“Cisco is interested in hiring top talent with diverse backgrounds. And we know from experience that veterans have an extremely unique set of experiences that make them high-performing team members in any industry.”
Cisco is interested in hiring top talent with diverse backgrounds. And we know from experience that veterans have an extremely unique set of experiences that make them high-performing team members in any industry. As a networking company, Cisco also serves government customers in many capacities. Within Cisco, it’s common to find former service members serving in new capacities where they partner with their previous military or government organizations. Others combine their years of military experience and unique expertise to grow in other directions. In doing so, they add amazing value wherever they choose to work within our company. At Cisco, we value our veterans – and they value us. Together, we accomplish great things.
Cisco is proud to be a Top 10 Military Friendly Employer
Cisco is consistently voted a Top 10 Military Friendly Employer and has an active and growing Inclusive Community for veterans, reservists, and spouses, plus any volunteers who just want to be a part of giving back. Together, they cover a wide range of areas including:
- Attracting diverse talent
- Providing a community for veterans upon employment with Cisco
- Creating opportunities for Cisco-employed veterans to give back to their communities.
If you’re a military service member considering a career change, a military spouse looking to grow your knowledge of the technology industry, or a military veteran interested in career opportunities within Cisco, we encourage you to join one of our four livestream options on October 13th.
Further information and registration options can be found on our event website.
