Monthly Threat Webinar Series in 2023: What to Expect
2023 will be the ninth year of doing my monthly threat webinar series that I love. Each month I select a threat or a research report to discuss with my audience that I think can help educate them on the latest trends in the threat landscape. Over the years, I’ve covered such threats as advanced persistent threats (APT), botnets, crypto mining, fileless, key loggers, messaging, ransomware, spyware, trojans, vulnerabilities, web threats, and zero days. One thing I’ve tried to maintain throughout these years is my focus on giving you technical information and staying away from marketing fluff and product pitches. I tend to discuss technologies that can be utilized in defenses, so you can look to security vendors who provide those within their security solutions.
My first webinar will be in February as I was out of the office for the first two weeks of January and so couldn’t prepare well enough to deliver one this month. My topic will be the shifts in the threat landscape we see in 2023. These shifts have occurred over the past few years due to the pandemic, geopolitical events, improved defense mechanisms, and, most recently, the global recession. In each of my webinars, we do a live broadcast where I can answer questions from the audience. This session is recorded, so there is an on-demand option afterward. Live participants will also receive a copy of the slides for their use.
Other topics I plan to cover in 2023 will include:
- Ransomware (this tends to be the most popular every year)
- Exploits and vulnerabilities
- Attacks used by malicious actor groups we uncover, including their recent campaigns
- Attack Surface Discovery data showing what is frequently missed and where
- Cyber Risks
- Cloud attacks
You’ll notice that many of these are the same as ones I’ve done in the past, but the reality is most malicious actors continue to utilize threats that work, but if there is a new attack model or threat, I will for sure cover that in one of my webinars. You’ll also notice I include webinars sharing the three main reports we publish each year. These include the previous year in summary, a mid-year report, and our predictions for the next year. These help my audiences gauge what threats we’ve seen targeting our customers (yearly and mid-year reports) as well as help them prepare for the next year’s attack scenarios (predictions). I also try to solicit feedback from my audience on topics they would like me to cover, so if you have any ideas, please comment below.
We have a webpage that hosts all my recorded webinars since 2015 for anyone who wants to watch earlier topics. https://resources.trendmicro.com/Monthly-Threat-Webinars.html
So, as we kick off 2023, I’m looking forward to sharing with you a monthly webinar that should help educate you on the latest happenings within the cyber threat landscape.
