One of my favorite smart rings is getting an 18K gold upgrade
The Ultrahuman Ring Air is one of the more competitive smart rings on the market for its sleep and activity scoring algorithms, endless features for tracking a user’s health, and regular app updates. When I tested it out last year, I wrote that it rivals wearables from Oura, the smart ring industry’s top dog.
Now, Ultrahuman is taking its wearable to another level with the release of the Ultrahuman Ring Rare line, “the world’s first luxury smart ring,” the brand announced at CES 2025 on Tuesday.

Ultrahuman is releasing three new finishes — Desert Rose, Dune, and Desert Snow — made with high-end materials that start at £1,500 or around $1,875 USD. Desert Rose and Dune, a rose gold finish and yellow gold finish, respectively, are crafted from 18K gold. Its silver Desert Snow ring is crafted from PT950 platinum and retails for £1,799, or around $2,250 USD.
The new Rare rings are far more expensive than Ultrahuman’s $350 Ring Air smart rings. While their exteriors are different, the software inside both rings is fairly similar. Ring Air and Ring Rare users will have Ultrahuman’s 6-axis motion sensors, temperature sensors, and PPG sensors around their fingers to track sleep, activity, and recovery around the clock.
Ring Rare users do, however, get some exclusive benefits, like lifetime access to UltrahumanX, the brand’s coverage and benefits program, and full access to Ultrahuman PowerPlugs, the app’s suite of biomarker apps and plug-ins that track a user’s cardio adaptability, atrial fibrillation, vitamin D, menstrual cycle, and more.

The luxury smart rings will debut at Selfridges in London and Printemps in Paris later this month, but an Ultrahuman spokesperson said we can expect to see the high-end smart rings coming across the pond and around the world later this year, with releases in New York, Milan, Dubai, India, and more to be announced soon.
