Reflections on Cisco Live 2022
Cisco Live was back in Las Vegas, Nevada and our partners and customers were out in force.
For those of you that were able to join Cisco Live, or maybe you are enjoying the on-demand video library, there is still great content to consume that will enhance your customer conversations.
By now, I am sure most of you understand the announcements around Hybrid Work and the simplification surrounding our platform approach. Our Unified Experiences launch included Nexus Cloud Management, Cloud Management for Catalyst through the Meraki dashboard, and a leap forward in our predictive network vision by announcing ThousandEyes WAN Insights. For a refresher on these topics you can either reference this brief highlight video from Bill Hentschell and Justin Barney or the Cisco Live on-demand video library.
I want to share with you today some other highlighted themes that you may not have had the chance to explore fully at Cisco Live.
The Future of Work
Hybrid Work is a reality of our time. However, returning to the office will never look and feel the same as it did a few years ago.
Now all office workspaces are much more flexible. These workspaces improve the experience by being customizable for the needs of the user at that moment in time. Simplicity is realized through the seamless integration with facility resources. This aligns your unified communications and other workspace related technologies such as Cisco IoT and DNA Spaces location-based offers. For IT, this brings in new possibilities for capacity planning, HVAC, lighting, temperature, and access needs.
Business Observability
Cisco’s Full Stack Observability (FSO) provides direct business value by visually creating a real-time end-to-end IT and Operations dashboard. Our approach to FSO goes far beyond the classic industry MELT concept of Metrics, Events, Logs, and Traces. We believe the next level offer must provide Visibility, Insights and ultimately, Actions across the entire technology stack. We seek to provide visibility and insights from the API down to the bare metal. And actions across traditional and cloud-native applications.
View the on-demand Hyperscaler Marketplaces and FSO session, where Nick Holden and I present how to leverage FSO during your cloud migrations. For example:
- Application Dependency Monitoring – the ability to instrument your application and visualize the health of all the microservice calls that make it function
- Hybrid Cost Optimization – the ability to know the amount of compute resources you’re consuming across the cloud and decide where to run the workload based on the relative cloud costs
- Or Application Security – the ability to detect vulnerabilities based on code-level activity changes
Look for additional information on the AppDynamics Cloud announcement with insights into how your cloud infrastructure impacts application workloads while leveraging AI-assisted correlations and root cause analysis for faster issue resolution with comprehensive health reporting and intelligent alerting. Learning Opportunities Create Timeless Positive Career Pursuits
DevOps to NetOps roles have been greatly accelerated over the past few years, where employers are placing their attention. Moving to a more cloud-based approach with quick-turn changes has made this necessary.
Cisco launched the Panoptica and Calisti applications to advance our efforts with the developer community. For engineers, there are new learning curriculums offered by Cisco’s Learning and Mentored Install (MINT) partners. For business experts, there were hub talks and breakout session content. These items are available to Cisco Partners through the Cisco Live on-demand library link.
I had the pleasure to meet with some of you and hear where we are on track and where we need to focus on ensuring the best possible experience. I appreciate your business with Cisco and look forward to our ongoing partnerships.
Good selling,
Jason W. Gallo, VP of Global Partner Sales
