This round of Rev Up to Recert focuses on programming, featuring a Learning Path hand-selected by our experts:
The PRNE Learning Path is available in Cisco U. Free from September 25 to November 22, 2024. It may be a beginner-level Learning Path, but it’s over 20 hours long. Don’t hit snooze — especially if you are an active Cisco certification holder — you can earn up to 24 CE credits!
Here is what’s included in your free access:

Programming for Network Engineers | PRNE Learning Path
You need to build Python skills before you can become a network automation guru. The Programming for Network Engineers Learning Path will help you build a foundational knowledge of Python and its programmability uses in network engineering. As your skills grow, so does the complexity of the Learning Path content, until you have reached a basic proficiency level of knowledge.
You’ll learn:
- Why programming is a critical skill for network engineers.
- How programming fits into the network automation and programmability learning journey.
- How to create useful, practical scripts for retrieving data and configuring network devices.
- How to create, apply, and troubleshoot simple network automation scripts.
- Python programming via hands-on experience.
(Completing the PRNE Learning Path also means that you will be closer to earning the DevNet Associate certification, which covers API, data structures, and Python.)

Meeting Cisco Continuing Education requirements
Continuing Education claims are now automated. When you complete your Cisco U. Learning Path, the CE credits you have earned will automatically apply toward your recertification requirement. Learn more about Cisco Continuing Education.
Follow these steps to ensure you meet requirements and use the program effectively:
- Log in with your Cisco ID (CCO ID) associated with your active certifications. We cannot confirm Learning Path completion if you do not use the same account.
- You can only complete the Programming for Network Engineers | PRNE Learning Path once.
- Review all materials and receive a status of “100% Complete” by November 22, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
- Receive a passing score of 80% or higher on your post-skills assessment.
