Schlage's new smart lock will unlock the door for you – completely hands-free

Smart home security brand Schlage unveiled two new smart door locks at CES 2025 that help modernize house access. The first is the Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt, which has the unique ability to unlock doors automatically. 

According to the announcement, the Sense Pro utilizes Ultra Wideband (UWB) radio signals and a “user’s paired and authorized personal device” (like a smartphone) to “intelligently calculate speed, trajectory, and motion.” It then takes this input to unlock the door as you reach for the handle.

UWB isn’t the only communication standard it runs. The Sense Pro also supports keypad access code entry and tap-to-unlock via NFC. However, you can’t beat having the door instantly unlock as you approach. This is a super convenient feature if you’re ever carrying a heavy package or a bunch of grocery bags and can’t reach for the door. It’s important to mention that the model supports Matter-over-Thread, letting the Sense Pro securely connect to a smart home network.

The second lock is the Arrive Smart WiFi Deadbolt. Schlage states this model is its “first push-button keypad deadbolt equipped with built-in WiFi”. It pulls double duty by allowing homeowners to remotely access and control their house’s Wi-Fi network via the Schlage Home app. Through said app, “users can… manage up to 250 access codes” for the keypad as well as track lock history and even “receive customized push notifications.”

Schlage says the Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt will launch later in the year while the Arrive Smart Deadbolt is set to release late spring 2025. Exact dates or price points have not been given. A new patch for the Schlage Home app on Android and iOS is scheduled for early 2025. 

Not only will it add support for the upcoming models, but it’ll also redesign the software’s interface to be more user-friendly plus introduce several features. These include single-button locking (or unlocking), an at-glance home view, and a way to manage multiple properties from your smartphone.
