The Best of Both Worlds – learn what’s new with VMware Cloud® on Dell

VMware Cloud on Dell is a Local Cloud solution that combines the simplicity and agility of the public cloud with the security and control of on-premises infrastructure, delivered as-a-service and fully managed by VMware. Customers are freed from the burden of managing infrastructure, can accelerate application delivery and maintain the appropriate control to satisfy stringent data sovereignty, security, cost, and performance requirements. No wonder customer adoption for Local Cloud continues to gather momentum and according to IDC will be a $7.6+Bn market by 20251.

In the VMware Cloud on Dell April 2022 release, VMware builds on the robustness of this proven Local Cloud solution with new Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) capability enabling customers to protect their critical enterprise workloads in the event of an unforeseen outage, fully managed by VMware.

Business Protection AND Cloud Efficiency

As customers embrace the benefits of VMware Cloud on Dell and are liberated from the burden of managing infrastructure, they very quickly look to this Local Cloud solution to handle more and more workloads, for example to modernize large-scale data-intensive workloads, to expand existing VDI deployments and to support new, emerging Edge applications. As their dependency on VMware Cloud on Dell grows so does the need to protect these business-critical workloads against any infrequent but unpredictable disaster scenarios. DRaaS enables customers to protect their business without the significant resource burden providing both peace of mind and a more efficient IT model.

In this April Release, the DRaaS solution is VMware Site Recovery (VSR) delivered as a cloud service for VMware Cloud on Dell. It brings the powerful orchestration capabilities of VMware Site Recovery Manager™ (SRM) with built-in automation that reduces the amount of under-utilized hardware and maintenance tasks, simplifies the deployment in case of a DR event, and increases the reliability of the DR solution with non-disruptive testing. Organizations can now leverage an enterprise-ready cloud-delivered disaster recovery solution to protect VMware Cloud on Dell as the source site or to use it as a target site.

VMware Site Recovery (VSR) for VMware Cloud® on Dell

VMware Site Recovery is a cost-effective solution that helps organizations overcome the challenges of the high inefficiency costs associated with traditional Disaster Recover (DR). It enables organizations to create recovery plans that fully automate and orchestrate failovers, allowing IT teams to offload manual tasks during the recovery process.

At the heart of VMware’s DR solution is Site Recovery Manager (SRM). This proven DR tool, which is included in the VMware Site Recovery (VSR) service, helps organizations reduce risks during critical times when their main data center is down.

VMware Site Recovery has extensive built-in testing capabilities. It enables users to perform frequent non-disruptive DR tests that automatically generate detailed reports, reducing the exposure to disasters.

VMware Site Recovery for VMware Cloud on Dell is orderable via the VMware Cloud Console and is fully maintained and supported by VMware, relieving organizations of the need to set up a secure environment, maintain hardware, and manage the lifecycle of their infrastructure stack. VMware Cloud on Dell is operated and supported by highly trained experts, allowing organizations’ IT teams to focus on strategic initiatives and reducing the exposure should an unforeseen outage occur.
