The Future of Marketing is Bright. Are you Ready? – Cisco Blogs


After the introduction from Michelle last week, I am excited to share my thoughts on Marketing Velocity Digital 2021. The last few weeks have been a whirlwind, as I transitioned to lead Cisco’s Global Partner Marketing team. Marketing Velocity gave me the opportunity to take a breath, and to help our partner marketers become future ready.

The notion of being future ready isn’t necessarily a new concept. It’s been used before to define several business or government-related initiatives focused on preparing for what’s to come. However, in today’s world, we know the only truly predictable thing about our current environment is that it is unpredictable. This past year proved to us that, as marketers, being future ready and maintaining the ability to pivot with agility is key to staying relevant.

And that’s exactly what we discussed in detail with partners at Marketing Velocity Digital this week. With a keen focus on our marketing partners, the agenda was filled with content from Cisco executives and industry experts exploring new ways to prepare for the long term – together – while remaining agile enough to adapt quickly to changing market conditions.

Delivering Brave Marketing Experiences

During the fully virtual event, Michelle Chiantera, Oliver Tuszik and I spoke about the ways Cisco is constantly evolving and investing in its marketing best practices to ensure success, and how partners are an important part of that journey. The role of marketing is pivotal in transforming experiences in the customer, sales, and partner space.

While we collectively pioneer the path forward, it is critical for us to remain agile and in the forefront of the market. By connecting our customers securely as we return to the office, our technology remains more relevant than ever.

In addition, we had to rethink the way we approach profitability by re-evaluating the entire sales process focusing more on delivering an experience.

Outside of my chat with Michelle and Oliver, we also heard from our regional Cisco marketing leaders who provided insights into latest investments in data-driven marketing and how our partners can take advantage. Through several on-demand sessions, featuring industry pundits like Jay McBain from Forrester and customer growth evangelist Tiffany Bova, we learned more about what it means to find and execute marketing strategies designed to foster relevance, agility and growth. I enjoyed the incredibly motivational keynote speech from renowned marketing expert Thomas Barta talking about precisely what bravery in marketing means today. The sentiment “bravery is purpose minus fear,” continues to be on my mind.
