Smartwatches are a gym-goer’s best friend. These devices actively track your fitness activity, collect health data for future analysis, and even control music streaming apps from your wrist. Many solid options exist on the market, but which wearable should you get?
Should you splurge and buy a really expensive Garman watch? You could, but I recommend opting for the Galaxy Watch FE if you’re starting out. It is a great entry point for smartwatch newbies, and both Amazon and Best Buy have discounted the device ahead of Presidents’ Day.

Best Buy is selling the Galaxy Watch FE at $160 across each of its three colors: Black, Silver, and Pink Gold. That is a $40 drop of its original $200 price tag. The retailer only has the Bluetooth variant available. If you want cellular connectivity, you must hop over to Amazon, where the LTE version costs $210. Normally, it costs $250. Again, all three colorways have received the discount.
So, what do you get with the Galaxy Watch FE? Well, you’ll receive a mid-range “smartwatch with flagship features,” as ZDNET Staff Writer Maria Diaz once put it. It sports a 40mm Super AMOLED watch face covered in Sapphire Crystal glass to protect against scratches. 40mm is a good size for people with small wrists. Other wearables can measure up to 45mm, which may be too big for some.
As mentioned earlier, health data is collected through a series of sensors.

The PPG sensor, for example, continuously measures your heart rate and will alert you if it goes too high or too low. It’ll even inform you of any irregularities it finds with your heart. This wearable also tracks over 100 different workouts, documenting your fitness journey down to the minute detail.
This data can then be viewed on the Samsung Health app, providing deep insight into your body’s condition. Other notable features include sleep coaching to help you get a good night’s rest and fall detection.
Samsung made several compromises, so the Galaxy Watch FE balances its premium features with affordability. If you’re looking for a better-performing wearable, the Galaxy Watch Ultra is also available at Amazon for $414.
