This tri-foldable phone at MWC 2025 is the most bizarre thing I've seen yet

I thought I had seen it all. But Infinix just unveiled a tri-fold concept phone at Mobile World Congress 2025, and I’m starting to wonder what else has been kept in secret going into this year’s trade show.

While this isn’t the first phone with a screen that folds thrice — the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate gets to call dibs — Inifinix has put a neat spin on the ambitious form factor. The company calls it the Zero Series Mini Tri-Fold Concept Device, as it’s more akin to modern-day flip phones and less so to the tablet-style foldables we’ve seen from Samsung and Google.
To be honest, the renders and product images Infinix has shared so far don’t give us the best idea of exactly how the folding mechanism works. The Sunday press release simply describes it as having “dual hinges that fold and unfold vertically into itself.” I’ll have to inspect the phone a little closer when the MWC show floor opens tomorrow.
Infinix is pitching several use cases for the foldable concept, including mounting it onto gym equipment to track workouts, latching it onto a backpack as an action camera, and leveraging the outward-facing screen for real-time multilingual translations.

The nature of the foldable should also allow users to take selfies with its rear cameras, a functionality we’ve seen before with flip phones. Here’s hoping a tri-fold somehow makes things easier. Maybe a larger viewfinder area to help frame yourself? I digress.
Since this is only a concept, Infinix isn’t sharing any information regarding the device’s specifications, including the total display size — which companies typically love to tout when they can condense it into a compact build. Regardless, I’ll be on the lookout for the Infinix booth at MWC this year with my fingers crossed that its newest concept lives up to the hype.
