Two affordable OTC glucose monitors unveiled at CES – and you can try them now
Dexcom and Abbott, companies specializing in healthcare technology, announced their first over-the-counter continuous glucose monitor (CGM) device at CES 2025. Many people with diabetes and insulin-related health issues struggle to find accessible and affordable care, making this announcement a potential game changer in the healthcare sphere.

People without diabetes also use glucose monitoring to help make adjustments to their eating habits and improve overall health. So, the Lingo by Abbott and the Stelo by Dexcom could benefit a wide variety of users.
Stelo by Dexcom tracks glucose levels 24/7
This CGM is designed for those with Type 2 diabetes who do not use insulin or those with prediabetes who are 18 years or older. The device attaches to your arm and tracks glucose levels 24/7. Each sensor lasts up to 30 days and is connected to an app on your iPhone that delivers your readings.

Previously, the company sold similar devices, but they were much more expensive and sometimes involved insurance for them to be accessible.
You can order the Stelo Glucose Biosensor at $90 a month or for a one-time purchase of $100.
Lingo monitors for general wellness
The Lingo by Abbott is marketed toward general health and wellness rather than individuals with diabetes; the stick-on GCM aims to help you improve your health by tracking your glucose spikes. Similar to a smartwatch or smart ring, it uses this data to make personalized suggestions. The Lingo has a wear span of 14 days. It offers personalized coaching, a companion app, and personal insights on eating habits, stressors, and exercise.

The Lingo wellness GCM monitor is available now at three pricing tiers: A 2-week plan at $50, a 4-week plan at $90, and a 12-week subscription at $249. Its app is compatible with iPhone only.
Both the Lingo by Abbott and the Stelo by Dexcom were Honorees in Digital Health at CES 2025.
