What’s New with VMware Cloud at VMware Explore Barcelona – VMware Cloud Blog


As VMware Explore 2023 Barcelona gets underway, we are pleased to share about the many innovations, tech previews, and releases from the VMware Cloud team. 

We continue to see greater demand for data-intensive applications and growing cyber threats in today’s enterprises. To address these needs, we are introducing:

  • Advanced data service capabilities and new partnerships with our Data Services Manager.
  • Proactive detection capabilities in Ransomware Recovery that enable you to see more so you can stop more and recover faster. 
  • Sovereign cloud data and security services through our growing number of Cloud Service Providers that support application needs and better protect the business while meeting data privacy and security.

All of this is built on VMware Cloud Foundation, which enables our customers to simply operations to deliver consistent experiences across their clouds.

  • Announcing Availability of VMware Cloud Foundation 5.1
    VMware is pleased to announce availability of VMware Cloud Foundation 5.1, delivering key improvements including support for vSAN Express Storage Architecture, support for vSphere Distributed Services Engine which enables Data Processing Units (DPUs) to offload tasks and improve networking and security performance, GPU scaling enhancements to enable customers to scale their private cloud AI environments and improve resiliency. Read the announcement blog to learn more! 
  • Accelerate Data Driven Innovation in VMware Cloud Foundation
    VMware is pleased to announce new advanced data services capabilities for VMware Cloud Foundation from the release of the next generation of VMware Data Services Manager, as well as partnerships and Tech Previews with Google Cloud and MinIO, all of which will help customers accelerate their data-driven innovation. Read the announcement blog to learn more! 
  • Intelligent Threat Detection 
    We are announcing the tech preview of Intelligent Threat Detection for VMware Ransomware Recovery. Intelligent Threat Detection is designed to proactively prevent, detect and respond to encryption events using AI/ML-powered encryption prevention and response. This capability will deliver enhanced visibility into the data being protected, which will help customers proactively stop attacks earlier and speed up the recovery process. Read the announcement blog to learn more!  
  • Announcing VMware Live Recovery 
    VMware is excited to announce the upcoming launch of VMware Live Recovery, a new solution that provides protection against ransomware as well as disaster recovery across VMware Cloud in one unified console. VMware Live Recovery is designed to help organizations protect their VMware-based applications and data from a wide variety of threats, including ransomware attacks, infrastructure failure, human error, and more. By bringing together the functions of established products VMware Site Recovery Manager and VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery with Ransomware Recovery – and combining them under a unified, flexible, and SaaS based console – customers can realize comprehensive enterprise protection within a single solution. Read the announcement blog to learn more! 
  • Announcing New Collaborations in VMware Private AI
    McKinsey has calculated that Generative AI’s impact on productivity could add the equivalent of $4.4 Trillion USD annually to the global economy. But at the core of this remains the privacy of enterprises’ data.
