Proving physical security value across an organization

In this episode of The Security Podcasts we sit down with Thomasina Martin, a Key Account Manager specializing in Energy and Utilities at Genetec, Inc., to talk about proving the value of physical security across an organization.
“One of the primary challenges I think a lot of us see, I think it’s universal in the security industry when trying to secure a budget, is that physical security often competes with other critical business units or functions,” Martin says. “Additionally, the benefits of security initiatives can often be something intangible or difficult to really quantify until an actual incident occurs, which makes it harder to really justify that expense until something happens. So a way to overcome this is that leaders need to tie security initiatives directly to business risks and outcomes, present again, data-driven ROI projections and communicate the potential cost of not prioritizing security. It’s absolutely imperative to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and to align security with their overall strategic priorities or their their overall goals.”
